We just want to be left alone. We will fight this out in the court of law and if we still lose, we have to know that there is a purpose in it.
We do not believe that anything happens by chance, it is all for a reason.

In October of 2014, I had asked him what he expected and asked if he would he go to counseling with me because things had gotten worse in our marriage. It was a terrible time for both of us. His mother had been diagnosed with brain cancer earlier in 2014. They told us that she could have limited time, or she could live for at least another year. He told me to go file for divorce because he was done trying to make things work. I filed, his mom took a turn for the worse and then was hospitalized for something different than the cancer, but the cancer weakened her immunity too much. She passed away. It is true that I thought if I followed through with filing for divorce, he would decide to fight for our marriage. He was crushed that I followed through with the divorce according to so many people and I was crushed that he did not try for our marriage.
The reference to I wanted options in March was that we actually went out on a date. We had dinner together at TaMolly's. It was my first real date since the divorce. I was nervous, excited and worried. Everything went great until the date was almost over. We got in an argument again and went our separate ways.
Vernon got engaged. He and Kathryn had their first date April 19, 2015 to the Fleetwood Mac Concert. They were engaged in May but thankfully not on our wedding anniversary date of May 19. It was unexpected. After that, someone had approached me about buying this property. I said no and so did Vernon. We tried to work with Fred Dacus and Associates to see what we could get for the property but when the realtor was unable to speak to me because I was not on the deed, Vernon and I were both shocked. We had no idea that our entire marriage, I was never on the deed but we were both first time property owners.
So this phone call was about what are my options now with 3 kids, 3 dogs and 2 cats. No one would want to rent to me if I decided to give up the home.
He finally decided to add me to the deed and told ME to draw up the deed. I did have it drawn up in July 2015, before he married Kathryn. I failed to put "with survivorship" on the deed; had I done that, I would not be here in this mess.
Some of you may be asking would Vernon have lied to me? Not about this. He would have been happy to tell me to mind my own business. He signed the deed adding me as co-owner and we agreed to keep the property as long as we wanted. If one died, the other would keep it because we both worked for it. Neither of knew that the lack of two words could destroy lives.
Now here we are with Kathryn Norris Ozbun McKay Powell wanting as much in Brookland as she can get currently including selling the property but her soulmate, went to his grave thinking she wanted nothing to do with Brookland.
