We just want to be left alone. We will fight this out in the court of law and if we still lose, we have to know that there is a purpose in it.
We do not believe that anything happens by chance, it is all for a reason.

Vernon McKay was the world to his kids but he died Dec 29, 2016 when his heart stopped suddenly at work.
There were a lot of concerns about him since he was so very young at age 48 when he died. He had no history of any medical problems other than reflux as indicated in the medical records. He had been to see cardiology for about 2 months and that clinic dismissed him 10 days before he died stating his heart was perfect basically and he should return to his primary care physician. The kids have the records. So fast forward to why we all decided to set this up. Well, their dad had been remarried for 13 months to another woman. As a result of many things, 6.5 years later, their dad still has no tombstone. In addition, there was no autopsy. None of the Estate Lawyers have wanted to request an autopsy from the judge because there has been no money. Now in addition to that, this week of April 12, 2023, their dad's widow-bride was awarded the right to sell their childhood home and my home that I have lived in since 1995 and on the property since 1990. Vernon and I first had a mobile home here and then we built the big house as Vernon called it. It was on farm dirt. Now, it is worth a little more than cheap gumbo farm dirt.
Vernon was a great man. He was the fun-loving dad that took the kids and their friends "snipe hunting", he did the ice challenges with them, played tag football, took them to the river, goofed around, played video games with them, Monopoly, icecream dates, Dominoes, etc. He loved to grill and he loved to cook. He was just a big kid too. He could fix anything and build anything. He was just their dad they loved with all their heart. He let them have up to 75 kids in the yard every weekend for bonfires, hotdogs, marshmallows wars, etc, etc, etc... There is not enough time to tell how much he loved his kids. This home, we built together. He did so much work until midnight every night while we were building it. I was pregnant with Tucker so he pulled more than his fair share of building it but he built us a 3800-square-foot home for $106,000. Unheard of even in 1995. We bought windows and doors, the garage door and opener, ceiling fans, faucets, etc. anytime we caught them on sale between 1990 and 1995. He loved this home and we did not sell it after 24.5 years of marriage fell apart because we both wanted the kids to keep making memories here. Now, that is gone because his widow-bride wants it gone.
The widow-bride was able to sway the judge without us ever being able to present in person to the judge. A "trial" was done by the judge only reading documents that were presented so far. Mine and the kids' home was ordered sold this week to meet the "dower right" of the Widow. She has never owned it nor has she ever stepped foot inside this home but she has as many rights to it as me, the resident for 33 years and the kids.
We have years of teen nights, bonfires, etc, here. The kids know this as their only childhood home and then someone with 13 months invested in their dad's life comes along and wants it all gone. Somehow the Deputy Coroner was misinformed about their dad's health and no autopsy happened so the kids are going to have the raise money to pay for the autopsy. We can pay for the tombstone, but we are beginning to run low on funds to fight the legal battle to give the kids ownership of his grave and body.
The legal battles are for the following currently but the widow-bride continues to request new things so the battle rages on:
1. Ownership of the grave and his body by the kids, Alysha, Tucker and Jenna so they can put up a tombstone of their choosing.
2. A complete forensic autopsy to just know how their dad died since he had a clean bill of health 10 days earlier at age 48
3. To buy back the widow's interest in their childhood home or fight in court legally to show why her Dower Rights are not just at all.
Finally, we hope everyone gains awareness of Dower's Rights. There are only 5 states left that have not abolished this antiquated law. The judge even deems it so but said she must abide by it. We sincerely hope our case will bring light to the need to abolish this law. It is a tool in our case to sell everything that belonged to their dad and inadvertently, their mom. No more Christmases in the home they grew up in, no more holidays, birthdays or football games, and no more showing their kids where they grew up if this ruling holds.
We are tired. We just want to buy out the lady's rights and get away from her and find out why their dad passed so suddenly and memorialize him with a nice tombstone of Alysha, Tucker and Jenna's choosing.
Go to our donate page if you wish to donate to help fight the battle and if any is left over, the kids will receive 100% of the leftovers as an inheritance.
